Do famous people react to DMs

Instead of the heart: Instagram is working on various reactions in the DMs

In Facebook Messenger it is already possible to choose from several emojis in order to send a suitable reaction to what has been said. On Instagram, on the other hand, this has so far been limited to a simple heart with which the received message can be marked with "Like". Now tests have been discovered that Instagram would like to offer its users several options in the reactions in the future.

Jane Manchun Wong, who discovered many unpublished features as a reverse engineer, shared a screenshot on Twitter showing the reaction bar in the Instagram chat. There could soon be a selection from the basic emotions there, as well as on Facebook: a heart, a laughing, astonished, a sad and an angry emoji, as well as a thumbs up and thumbs down.

Emojis are an indispensable part of digital communication. Of course, users have always been able to send emojis as messages. But the shortcut of the preset emojis is seen by many as a time-saving tool. In addition, a "like" to many messages is not an appropriate response, which is why Facebook soon made additional options available. So it can be assumed that a selection of reactions would also be quite easy to establish on Instagram. Most users already know this from Facebook. It is astonishing, however, that the “thumbs up”, which became famous as Facebook's Like button as a generally valid sign of approval, judging by the screenshot, is also to be introduced. This would mean a further convergence of Facebook's messaging services.
