The Aptitude test for engineers (GATE ) is an exam that primarily tests one's own personal bachelor's degree in engineering and natural sciences for admission to the master’s degree from institutes and for jobs at public sector companies. GATE is jointly established by the Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institutes of Technologies in Roorkee, Delhi, Guwahati
The GATE value of a particular one is the relative performance of a better one. Eligibility is earned for admission to various postgraduate degrees (e.g. Master of Engineering, Master of Technology, Master of Architecture, Doctor of Philosophy) and Indian universities used by MHRD and MHRD other governance. In the real world, GATE scores are also used by Indian legal public sector companies for the relationships of graduate engineers in entry level positions. It is one of the powers in India. The GATE is also run by various institutes that originate from the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.
Financial Management in Post Graduate Services
The GATE is used as well as for staff (e.g. against) for a number of program de. In December 2015, the University Grants Commission and MHRD announced that the GATE-qualified Masters student scholarship will increase by 55% from £ 8,000 (US $ 110) per month to £ 12,400 (US $ 170) per month
The following students can use GATE effects:
- Bachelor degrees in engineering / technology / architecture (3 years after 10 + 2/10 + 2 + 3 (ongoing)) / 10 + 2 + 4 (ongoing) / Post-B.Sc./Post-Diploma) and heard, which have been up in the last year.
- Masters representations in a specific branch of science / math / statistics / computer instruction or equivalent and heard that change in the last year.
- Relatives in the second or alternate year of a four-faced master's degree (Post-B.Sc.) In engineering / technology.
- different in the better or in the year of the five-year personal master’s degree or dual degree in engineering / technology.
- Employees with qualifications that have been verified by the UGC / AICTE of the competent professional associations (e.g. AMIE from IE (India), AMICE from the Institute for Civil Engineers (India) -ICE (I), AMIETE from IETE (India)) as equivalent to BE / B.Tech.
Concerns that Section A or equivalent have of employment relationships are also eligible.
There is no age limit that has been set by the examining board to be heard in GATE.
Disciplines, structure, curriculum and grading scheme
GATE will distinguish between the following 27 disciplines. A candidate can choose one of these options.
The pa per sections under XE *, XL ** and XH *** are given by a certain dedicated code s rights, which are listed in the following table, which are:
Duration and type of exam
The exam Die Ination rotates around 3 hours and takes care of 65 questions with a value of a maximum of 100 functions. The examination of all work is carried out in an online CBT mode. The questions are made up of various multiple choice questions or MCQs (four answer options, only ONE of which is and must be correct). The answer questions can be multiple select questions or MSQs (four answer options, of which ONE or MORE than ONE is correct, which are required to get the correct options) and / or questions or NATs with numeric Answer types is a real number) act (enter numbers using an on-screen keyboard and a computer mouse).
Questions and grading scheme
The exam consists of 65 questions, one point and two are questions. Of 65 questions, 10 are asked from general suitability and 55 from questions. The General Aptitude Actions section of 5 one-point questions and 5 two-point questions accounted for about 15% of the total grades. The technical section and the technical math section, along with 25 one-point questions and 30 two-point questions, were approximately 85% of the total grades. As already selected to change all to receive multiple choice questions or MCQs to answer the questions can be multiple select questions or MSQs and / or numeric answer type questions or NATs. The exam exam negative MCQ answers negative. Due 1/3 of the grades grades for incorrect MCQ answers are deducted (d. H. -0.33 for incorrect one-mark answers and -0.66 for incorrect two-mark answers), no negative ones for MSQs and NATs Notes are available. There are NO partial credits for MSQs and NATs.
Results and test results
The results show the overall grades of a possible status, the GATE rights, the All India rank (AIR) and the cut-off grades for different categories in the work of progress. The rights are valid 3 years after the date of the announcement of the GATE results. The scorecards are only a qualified separate access.
Normal procedure GATE-Score
Taxes "normal grades" for taxes received in the scheme (CE, CS, EG, EE and ME):
M.t= means marks of the best 0.1% candidates in all years in this subject.
M.q= Actions + standard deviation of the grades of all rights in all years in this subject.
M.ti= Working grade of the best 0.1% candidates in the i-session in this subject.
M.iq= Actions + standard deviation of the grades of all rights in the i-session of this subject.
From 2014, the exam will be for CE, CS, EC, ME and EE subjects in relation to rights. Therefore a normal normalization is given for these topics in order to include distances in the degrees of difficulty of the question sets about different rights. The normalization must be based on the basic assumption that "in all GATE papers with the regulation of the representation of the authorization over all rights, which is the same". According to the GATE Committee, this authorization is because "the number of payments made in GATE 2014 in compartments with personal authorization is large and the procedure for assigning the session to authorizations is also ensured different multi-session session topic, the number of relationships to be determined in each session is of the same order of magnitude. "
Based on the above and under the administration of normal normalization methods, the committee arrived at the following formula to review normal grades for CE, CS, EC, EE and ME rights:
Normalized note (︿M ij ) of j candidate in i meeting is given by
- M.ijthe grades are grades, the j-candidate received in the i-session,
- M.tis the debt rating of the best 0.1% candidates in all years in this subject,
- M.qis the sum of taxes and standard deviation of the grades of all partners in this subject every year,
- M.tithe average of the grades of top 0.1% belongs in the i-session of this subject,
- M.iqis the sum of taxes and standard deviation of the grades of all administration in the i-session of this subject.
After evaluation of the answers normalized grades upwards. The formula is according to the raw grades grades, according to which candidate according to subject CE, CS, EC, EE or ME has received. The "rights" are made assuming these normal marking measures. For all other subjects, the official grades of the disabled are used to control the control.
Controlling the GATE damage for all subjects (single and multiple session):
M.q= Qualification grades for specified of the general category.
M.t= grade of the best 0.1% candidates (for subjects with 10,000 or more) or the 10 best.
Notice: When administrating with other rights (EC, CS, ME, EE and CE) "grades" are the "normal grades".
From GATE 2014 (and the year 2014-15 of the 2-valid validity period of the GATE 2013 score), the GATE score will be a new one according to the new new formula:
- S = normalized) normal,
- M = grades received from someone who has heard grades ")" in the fall of subjects with personal rights CE, CS, EG, EE and ME),
- M.q= Qualification grades for the management of the general category in this subject (25 or μ + σ, depending on its value is valuable),
- μ = average (i.e. arithmetic mean) of the grades of all higher grades in this subject,
- σ = standard deviation of the grades of all in this subject,
- M.t= high quality of the grades of the best 0.1% (for heard with 10,000 or more) or top 10 managers (for photo with less than 10,000 proper decisions),
- S.t= 900 = powers and M t,
- S.q= 350 = powers and M q.
The percentile of a deal indicates the loss of relationships that have fewer points than these possible candidates. It is changed as:
Percentile = (1 - All India rank / number of rights in this subject) x 100%
Up to GATE 2012 (and year) 2013-14 of the 2-year period of validity of the GATE 2013 score), the score was based on the following formula quality:
GATE score =
- m = notes received by the received,
- a = average of the grades of all possible who died in this subject this year with grades below zero bought in zero,
- S = standard deviation of the grades of all claims that are in this year in this subject, with grades below zero in zero,
- aG= Global average of the grades of all claims that have changed in all subjects in the last and last 5 years (i.e. 2010 to 2013 for GATE 2013), relationship grades below zero in zero values,
- sG= Global standard deviation of the grades of all Kandida ten, die in all subjects in aktuell and pa are st 5 years (i.e. 2010 to 2013 for GATE 2013), differentiates grades below zero into zero.
The rules for qualifying grade rules from year to year. The qualification grades (out of 100) are for different subjects and categories.
Here μ is the average (d. H. The arithmetic mean) of the grades of all higher grades in the subject and the standard deviation of all grades in this subject.
which is the qualification grade of the general category in the range of 25 to 50.
The Government of India heard reservations in 2008 for other backward classes in the administration of colleges and the cessation of work efforts in the public sector. Before that, all OBC candidates were included in the "General" category. At that time there was no separate OBC category.

Level of difficulty
GATE has been known for a long time to test the technical basics in an intelligent way. Problems about "protracted" problems became rare. The task of mastering an entire engineering course (about 30 bachelor's subjects) for a three-hour test involves a certain amount of zearing in the test itself. Every year only around 15% of all sighting treatments are proper. High percentiles are to be used in M.Tech speak. or M.E. degrees at Indian Technology Institutes and Indian Science Institutes or on the shortlist for interviews in Indian public sector companies.
Admission to Post Graduate Member
In contrast to admissions for students in India, the desTech must be heard by the institute for each institute. Rights (March in March). There is no separate consultation. A CCMT is held each year for admission to NITs and IIITs, and eligibility is granted around April of each year.
Some institutions give the GATE qualification as mandatory and even for the admission of self-financed students to postgraduate courses. GATE-qualified disabled people can also have the Junior Research Fellowship at CSIR Laboratories and those demanding from CSIR. Top runners in GATE papers are claimed to be eligible for the CSIR "Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Fellowship". Some government officials prescribe the GATE qualification as well as for applying as a scientist.
In recent years, various academics have considered GATE to be one of the toughest jobs in its categories. Some non-Indian universities such as the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and some technical universities in Germany also identify GATE score as a parameter for assessing the quality of candidates for admission to their Masters and Ph.D. Program.
Some management institutes such as NITIE, Mumbai, offer admission to the Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering based on the GATE score.
Most Indian institutes do not give limit values for previous years. So there is general confusion regarding the choice of institutes and specializations. Over the past few years, IIT Kharagpur and IIT Guwahati have set the cut-off mark list for last year. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi has a very detailed website on Post Graduate (PG) Activities and Admissions where students can find the relevant information on cut-off marks etc. Usually the Indian Institutes of Science and Indian Institutes of Technology are the most selective, followed by National Institutes of Technology and others. There are also some state universities in India whose standards and facilities are comparable to the top NTs IITs and IITs. Some of them are (Chandigarh), Bengal Engineering and Science University (recently converted to IIEST), Jadavpur University, Delhi Technological University, Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Andhra University College of Engineering, Osmania University etc. Even within the For top institutes, the selection criteria vary greatly between departments and programs, depending on the subject area. The Directorate for Technical Education of the State of Maharashtra also started running the GAP round for GATE and non-GATE candidates in all institutes in Maharashtra that offer M.E./M.Tech from 2013. Program.
CSIR's JRF GATE grant
The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) introduced the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) - GATE - program in 2002 to allow GATE- qualified engineering graduates and GPAT -qualified pharmaceutical graduates to conduct research through suitable PhD students. Programs in CSIR laboratories.
Scholarship and term of office:
The scholarship amount is £ 25,000 (USD 350) per month plus HRA (house rent). In addition, an emergency grant of £ 20,000 (US $ 280) per year (prorated over a fraction of a year) is granted. After completing 2 years as a JRF - GATE, the scholarship can be upgraded to SRF (Senior Research Fellowship) - GATE and the scholarship can be increased to 28,000 GBP (390 USD) per month in subsequent years based on the evaluation of CSIR JRF-NET- Guidelines.
The total duration of the scholarship is 5 years, within which the candidate is expected to complete the Ph.D.
Public Sector Enterprises (PSUs) in India have long struggled to conduct their recruiting processes, with more than 100,000 students taking the exams for less than 1000 jobs (a pick rate less than 1%). After seeing the exponential increase in the number of engineering graduates in India looking to get a PSU job, the PSUs decided that a GATE score should be the main criterion for initial selection. This change was the main reason for the rapid increase in applicants for GATE 2012.
Indian Oil Corporation was the first power supply to successfully test this system and was followed two years later by National Thermal Power Corporation, Bharat Heavy Electricals, Bharat Electronics & PowerGrid Corporation of India.
Typically, these companies post their hiring notifications right after the GATE notification, indicating that candidates must attend GATE to be considered for a job in their organizations.
List of companies
Many companies have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with the GATE Organizing Committee to use the GATE Score as a screening tool for recruiting engineers on entry-level positions.
The curriculum for the GATE The exam and its preparation remain the same, regardless of whether you are applying for a position at a power unit or applying for admission to an engineering degree.
Changes in recent years
